Our Schools Engagement Programme

Working in partnership with our local schools

Engaging with our local schools is an important part of the work we do in promoting our clinical services across North Northumberland. Perhaps you may have a student who has a family member who is unwell or it could be a neighbour or friend.  Through our Talks we hope to dispel any myth that hospices are places that are sad, scary or smell strange. We deliver our talks in a sympathetic way that suits the age of the audience.

We are also very happy to answer any questions during the talk. The children would always be welcome to make a special visit to have a look around our hospice premises at Alnwick and Berwick. If you would like more information please contact our Fundraising Team directly at T. 01665 606515 or T. 01289 309997 You can email us by clicking on the link below...

25 Alive School Challenge Campaign

What is 25 Alive Challenge?

It's an exciting opportunity for our local schools to raise funds for HospiceCare. Our 25 Alive Challenge is open all year so you can sign up any time. The Hospice gives your school £25 and the challenge is to see how much profit you can make for the Hospice from our initial investment. There's no time limit to take up the challenge - all we ask is that we get back our £25 plus any monies raised from your fundraising event - there is no pressure to raise a specific amount so whether it's a little or a lot, every penny raised counts.

How does it benefit my students?

Discussing the concept of sponsorship and donations provides an insight into what having money means, and children can see, when everything is added up, what a huge difference they can make when they work together. This can make for some pretty useful math practice too.

How we can help you

When you sign up for our 25 Alive Challenge, we can create posters and flyers for your event, provide sponsorship forms and  and if you decide to host a public event, we can help promote it across our social media platforms and regular e-newsletters.

Cherry Class raised £224.80 and was already running their class business called "The Cheeky Cherry Lads". They were making and selling wooden log animals and wooden pebble picture discs so took on the challenge of designing a new range and photographed them for this project to raise money for HospiceCare. They sold them for £5 each and sent order sheets home from school and collected orders from staff and parents and even hosted a pop up shop in Tesco! What an amazing effort by students Saul, Tommy and Charlie. Their class teacher, Mrs Tait and teaching assistant is Mrs Hastie.
