I was made very welcome and got involved in helping to raise funds and support the work that is done. Having identified my artistic flair I was asked to arrange an A5rt exhibition with the support of local artists who donated their work to sell. Having mounted over 200 pieces of work I exhibited them at the Gate Gallery in Alnwick and as a result raised over £2000. Due to this success I have repeated this exercise on a number of occasions.
I have also arranged craft sessions at the Hospice where I have met Day care patients to make such things as mini photo albums, bunting to celebrate the Queen’s visit, silk painting, silk fibre bowls and much more. This is always enjoyed by the patients who find it very stimulating. During the summer months I have had the opportunity to assist with the opening of local gardens for the charity, and found this to be rewarding coming face to face with supporters of the Hospice. I have volunteered now for almost 7 years and have made many friends and acquaintances and look forward to supporting the Hospice in the future.
Tracy has also completed the Great North Run for us and St Cuthbert’s Challenge and now meets regularly with our other Castle Side Crafters on a Monday where handmade crafts are made to sell through the year at our craft fairs. Thank you Tracy.
