10 people bravely took part in an exhilarating 230m long Zipwire Challenge off the iconic Tyne Bridge on Sunday 17th April, whilst raising funds for HospiceCare North Northumberland. The Zip Slide started from the Newcastle side of the bridge, travelling diagonally across the River Tyne for 230m before finishing at HMS Calliope on the Gateshead side of the river.
Local Alnwick girls Amy and Emma Anderson, said ‘When we got the Hospicecare newsletter informing us of the Zipwire ,we jumped at the chance to do it, as they are really great charity providing a lot of care and support for people in our community. We were really excited and nervous. Climbing the step ladder to get ono the Tyne bridge was pretty scary, the chap said “after three or pushed?” PUSHED please we said and then we were off down the Zip at a speed of 25mph – it was brilliant. We would definitely do it all again! We want to thank family and friends for all the support and helping us raise over £300 for the hospice.
