Hello and welcome... HospiceCare North Northumberland is a local charity which is dedicated to providing care and support to adults, carers
and families, whose lives are affected by cancer and other life limiting illnesses such as respiratory and heart disease, Motor Neurone Disease and Multiple Sclerosis. Read the welcome message by Sue Gilbertson and access the full pdf by clicking the read more link below.
Our mission is to: ‘Ensure that our communities have free, flexible and ongoing access to the best possible palliative care. This is delivered at whatever stage of an individual’s illness and at a time and place of their choosing.’
I always tell the patients and families we meet to use the Hospice like a slow moving train, where they can hop on and off whichever platform they choose as we will always be there moving alongside them throughout their journey.
Even though the Hospice provided care and support to just fewer than 300 patients and their families living in North Northumberland last year, we want more people to know about us and the services we provide. Just as we wish the Hospice to be at the heart of our community for anyone to
contact us if we can be of any help, the patient and family are at the heart of the care and support our services deliver, whether this be in the person’s home or in our Hospice buildings in Alnwick and Berwick.
So please read on to find out just how HospiceCare North Northumberland can make a difference to patients, families and carers lives living with a life limiting illness. We achieve this by using funding from our local community and the support of our amazing team of local volunteers.
If after reading our magazine you wish to talk to someone about help for yourself or a family member, or if you wish to make an enquiry to get involved in anyway we would love to hear from you.
The kettle is always on!
