Karen Balmbro who organised the event said “Forty lovely walkers joined the 8 mile Ramble raising funds for our amazing local charity this year - HospiceCare Northumberland. The weather was hot, but we were prepared, all having lots of water, sun hats, sun screen etc. The children taking part were amazing, so full of energy (even in that heat!) and were in the front of the group most of the way around. We stopped for a rest at Broadstruther and enjoyed the beautiful views around us, then on we continued to the half way point...it was at this point we were all amazed to hear the "sounds" of an ice cream van coming over the hills! We all enjoyed some lovely refreshing ice lollies from the surprise "ice cream man - Colin" on his very special delivery vehicle!
Everyone taking part finished the Ramble with a buffet and a goody bag from HospiceCare with their very own medal included. The final total from our amazing fund raisers was £1944 - a totally fantastic figure, I cannot thank everyone enough for all their efforts before and on the day.”
Debbie Allan, HospiceCare nurse who took part in the 8 mile ramble commented “It was a lovely route and I would like to thank Karen Balmbro for organising the event and everyone who took part. The fantastic amount raised will allow us to provide 80 hours of Specialist HospiceCare to people living in our local communities.”
