Jane Potts, Agent at NFU Alnwick said “Back at the start of 2017 we took the decision to make HospiceCare our Partner charity of the year because of the amazing work they do providing care for those with life limiting conditions across North Northumberland, the same geographic patch which we cover, so it felt like a really good fit. The idea for me and my colleague, Tania Conway, was to Cycle the North Coast 500 (even though Jane didn’t own a bike) was born on a rather tipsy night out at Alnwick Beer Festival the phrase ‘it seemed like a good idea at the time’ could not have been more apt. We set out on our intrepid adventure, ably supported by Jane’s husband Colin, Stan the Van, and the office dog Lexi in early July 2017. None of us were quite prepared for the rugged beauty of the landscape (enormous never ending hills) nor the chafing, aching muscles and midge bites which go hand in hand with this type of endeavour, nevertheless we completed the 500 mile cycle in a little over 7 days climbing a total elevation higher than Mount Everest!!. “
After suitable time to recover Tania, Jane & fellow colleague Miriam McGregor, also ran the Great North Run in support HospiceCare. They all enjoyed it immensely especially the massage provided by HospiceCare at the end and of the run. Jane, Tania and Miriam would like to thank everyone who sponsored them once again and to say that they have big plans for 2019 and will keep everyone posted.
In total the Team at NFU Mutual in Alnwick have managed to raise £2,397, which will support the delivery of 96 hours of Hospice at Home care and support across North Northumberland. Pictured here Miriam, Jane, Tania and Lexi the dog, handing over their cheque to Emma Arthur, HospiceCare Fundraiser.
